Experience
My name is Elizabeth Ramsay. I obtained my M.A. in English Literature (Public Texts) from Trent University in September 2015. I have two years of teaching experience working as a Teaching Assistant (T.A.) at Trent University. During that time, I taught first year English and Classical History courses. During my time as a T.A., I created lesson plans for English Literature classes and worked with a teaching team. As a T.A. I learned what material worked well when putting together a first-year English course and what engaged students. For example, when students needed to review for their mid-term exam I created a Jeopardy game for them to review key material in a more relaxed way. In the classroom, I have found that students learn as much, if not more, from games as they do from formal instruction. I believe that a relaxed and open classroom environment where the students interact with each other is the best way to learn. As a tutor, I can assist you in English Literature to improve written communication skills, literacy oral communication skills, close reading, projects, and more. As an ESL tutor, I can help you improve your verbal communication skills, pronunciation and vocabulary, grammar, writing skills, and reading comprehension.
